Coin Acceptor Trouble Shooting Guide
How to fix coin acceptor problems
Common Coin Acceptor Problems
- Pressing the button on the coin acceptor must be green, not red.
- Coin inserted into front slot come out the front bottom coin return and no time is added to the timer
- Press and Hold button while inserting coin to add time to the timer.
- Dropped Box
- All pay box leaves are factory with target coin inserted into the coin holder. During shipping Canada Post or UPS drop the box on the front doorstep. This dropping force can dislodge the target coin from the holder. The coin falls out and is in the bottom of the pay box. Put it back into the coin holder.
- Missing Coin
- Ensure the coin inside the coin acceptor on the inside of the box, has a coin inserted into the target coin holder.
- Misaligned Coin
- Ensure that the coin in the coin holder is placed correctly inside the holder. If the coin is even 1 millimeter ahead or behind the center. The center is a V shaped coin placement holder location.
- Missing Spring
- Ensure that the coin holder spring is pressing down on the coin inside the holder. There is a small metal spring that puts downward force on the coin. Ensure the spring is not missing. When inserting the target coin, be careful not to pull too hard up on the coin holder forks. Pulling up too hard and high can result in the spring popping off or the coin holder forks separating from the main body of the coin acceptor.
- Solution: adding an elastic rubber band around the back of the coin acceptor, that puts a gentle downward force on the coin holder.
- Coin Jam
- There are multiple coins inserted into the coin acceptor and as result these coins jammed the coin drop channel. There is a black door on the coin acceptor that opens on 2 spring loaded hinges. When released it returns to its normal closed position. Coin jams can be cleared by opening this door and removing multiple coins from the coin channel.
- Dip Switches
- There are 3 dip switches located on the right side of the coin acceptor housing. Dip switches must be in a specific position for the coin acceptor to function correctly.
- 1 - TOP - down position
- 2 - MIDDLE - down position
- 3 - BOTTOM - up position
- Coin Comparison
- Pay boxes are sold in all countries, with multiple ranges of voltages and frequencies.
- Voltage between 110 and 240 VAC
- Frequency between 50 and 60 HZ
- When a coin is inserted in the front of the coin acceptor. The coin is compared against the target coin in the coin holder. The two coins are compared in both size and metal composition. If the match is found between these 2 coins time is added to the timer and the coin drops into the coin collector box inside the pay box.
