Which Coin Converter Unit?

step 1
Amount the converter box on to any surface.  Works better if mounted on to wood studs.  It is possible to mount to concrete or masonry wall.  If mounting on concrete we recommend using concrete screws or ramset anchors.
step 2
Once unit is securely mounted to wall, plug washer or dryer electrical cable into coin converter box.
step 3
Plug coin convert box into electrical wall plug.

2.  Stack-able washer and dryer with 2 plugs

Many appliance manufacturers such as Samsung, Whirlpool and Frigidaire come in a combination stack-able washer and dryer that runs on 2 plugs, the first being 110 volt and the second being 220 volts.  Both washer and dryer can run at the same time.  On the bottom the user can washer a load of laundry and in the top drying compartment the use can dry a load of laundry.  In this situation the landlord or property manager needs purchase two coin laundry converter boxes.

3.  Stack-able washer and dryer with 1 plug - 220 volt

Picture

both washer and dryer run off the same 220 volt plug

Frigidaire FFLE3911QW and Whirlpool models WET3300XQ come with combination stack-able washer and dryer that run on one 220 volt plug.  Both washer and dryer can run at the same time.  On the bottom the user can washer a load of laundry and in the top drying compartment the use can dry a load of laundry.  In this situation the landlord or property manager need only purchase one 220 volt coin laundry converter box.  With this type of setup the electrical circuit running the combination washer and dryer appliance on a 30 amp circuit as a lower amp may trigger the circuit breaker.

washer with gas dryer

4.  washer and gas dryer

gas dryer 110 volt

When a customer is running a 110 volt washer and and 110 volt gas dryer then one single unit can be used to run both machines.  There is no need to purchase a second 110 volt machine because both washer and dryer can be plugged into a single 110 volt coin time conversion box.  There is one timer for both machines and one coin coin accept-or.  Both wash and dryer can be used at the same time.  The first time a customer uses the machine they will clean using the washer and the dryer will be left idle.  Once the first load of laundry is done and placed in the dryer the customer must insert more coins to begin the drying process.  The landlord charge the same amount per coin inserted for each interval of time.

washer with free dryer

5.  washer and free dryer for non student rental housing unit

Picture

NOT recommended for student housing rental units

When is customer is looking to reduce the cost of total ownership an alternative is to purchase one 110 volt washer converter unit.  In the scenario the landlord attached only the washer appliance into the converter box and make the dryer free to use for his tenants.  Instead of charging say $3 for a typical load of laundry the landlord sets the price to $4 which includes the price for drying.

This type of setup works in most residential tenant situations, because tenants will always use the washer.  This type of step does not work in student housing, college or university tenancies.  Where students will hand wash cloths and put in the dryer at the landlord expense.
